MindLens·Lab

Welcome

Your reading helps build better emotional support tools.

MindLens Lab is a research project working toward future learning tools for autistic children and others who find emotion hard to read or exchange. Today, those tools are mostly trained on a “single correct answer” assumption. We don't think there is one — your reading is one of many, and we want yours. Thank you for taking the 10–15 minutes.

Ready when you are

We'll send a sign-in link to your email. No password needed. Your email is used only to sign you in — it never appears in any research data.

How it works

  1. 1

    Watch a short clip

A curated 15–30 second moment. We tell you whose reaction to focus on.

  2. 2

    Read the emotion

Pick what you read on their face, which cues you used, and how confident you are.

  3. 3

    See how others read it

After you commit, you'll see how peers and one AI read the same moment.

Three things to know before we begin

1.

This is research, not a personal emotion test.

2.

There are no right or wrong answers. Your reading is your reading.

3.

You contribute to research that may eventually inform learning tools for autistic learners and others who find emotion hard to read.

Why your reading matters

Today's emotion-recognition AI is mostly trained on single-labeller datasets — as if everyone agreed on what a face is showing. Tools built on that foundation can teach autistic children (and others) the wrong model. The data you contribute helps replace that with a foundation grounded in real human variance.
